Christianity, Islam, and the One True God (Hardback)
Every person of faith wants to have peace with God. But how can we be sure that our chosen religion, rather than the religion of millions of others, is the right way? This question highlights why interfaith dialogue is a critically important subject and why Steven Colborne was motivated to write this full-length book comparing and contrasting the religions of Christianity and Islam.
Some of the key themes of the book include the following:
The nature and attributes of God
The Bible and the Qur’an
The person and nature of Jesus Christ
The concept of the Trinity
New Testament textual criticism
The hadith literature in Islam
The alleged crucifixion of Jesus Christ
Religious conflict
The Day of Judgement
Divine justice
As the title of the book suggests, a key theme of the book is exploring whether God is the same being in Christian and Islamic theology, and whether it's possible for both religions to arrive at an understanding of the 'one true God' who seeks our devotion to Him.
Despite the fact that Judaism isn’t mentioned in the book’s title, many of the chapters that comprise the book are relevant to Jewish theology. The book will appeal to devotees of all three of the major Abrahamic religions, as well as to people from any other faith background or those looking to explore religion for the first time.
As well as containing helpful discussions of the similarities and differences between Christianity and Islam, the book closes with a section on spiritual encouragement so that when they have finished the book readers will feel invigorated, inspired, and motivated to press forward on their journey of faith.
